This 40' Standard Box Car with Single Door is painted green with white lettering.  The car sides show a red strip that divides the car side into two equal sections.  This car was part of a 150 car fleet that was built in July of 1954 by Pullman Standard.  Although hopper cars and all gondolas are the mainstay of C&IM's rolling stock, there were about 383 box cars left in 1956.  The line was owned by the Commonwealth Edison, the Chicago area power company until 1987.  The road is now privately held and the 121 mile route runs south from Peoria to Taylorville.
