This Heavyweight Depressed Center Flat Car with Maritime Machinery Load is painted black with white lettering.  This Flat Car was used to handle oversize loads, such as transformers and structural members, which were too tall to pass through standard tunnels.  This car was built by the Standard Steel Company of Butler, Pennsylvania.  It is registered as a 135 ton depressed center flat car that was one of a fleet of five cars that were owned by the Erie Railroad.  It was equipped with 6-wheel Commonwealth Trucks with one piece casted body, making them remarkably durable and able to take heavy loads.
