This 50' Troop Kitchen Car is painted Pullman Green marked with red crosses on white backgrounds both on the sides and the roof of the car.  Two caduceous flank both sides of the door.  It was built by American Car & Foundry in Chicago, Illinois.  Upon America's entry into the war in late 1941, Defense Plant Corporation contracted with American Car & Foundry for 800 Troop Kitchen Cars and 40 Hospital Cars.  They were operated by Pullman Company and assigned to the Transportation Corps or Medical Department of the Army Service Forces.
