This 36' Wood-Sheathed Ice Reefer with Steel Truss Rod Underframe is painted box car red with yellow sides and ends with black lettering surrounded with white border.  The "Armour Co. Fresh Meat - Chicago" logo is shown as white lettering on a black background.  Philip Armour began owning cars around 1883, by 1900 he had his own car manufacturing plant in Kansas City and 17 lines with 12,000 cars.  The Armour Meat Packing Company created one of the largest private refrigerator fleets in the United States.
