It was built by General American Transportation and serviced in June 1950. Built as a Class RR-29, these reefers were outfitted with Duryea Cushion Underframes, as well as stage icing and air conditioning fans. The series was part of Santa Fe's "Modernizatio Program" beginning in 1953. The cars were renumbered and painted with yellow-orange sides; earlier Ice Bunker Reefers were always painted yellow. Most cars retained their original hardware. By 1972 the "icing stations" were all closed, leavig the cars to carry dry products only. | | | SERIES: | 20500 - 20792 | BUILT: | March 1940 | TRUCKS: | Bettendorf | REGION: | Southwest USA | ERA: | 1940 - 1970's | |
