This 40' Double Sheathed Wood Reefer with Vertical Brake Wheel is painted brown with yellow sides and brown lettering. The Reefer was the result of inventive minds such as Gustavus Swift in the late 1800's.  When the Reefers were introduced to the meat packing industry, they were instantly welcomed as a profitable alternative to shipping live animals in stock cars. Reefers were designed to haul perishable goods such as meat, dairy products and beer, any load that required a cool temperature.  The Billboard Reefers were a great way for a company to advertise their products.
