With the introduction of this car Micro-Trains decided to recognize the Virginian Railway and the Norfolk Southern Railway. Micro-Trains took artistic liberty by combining the two roads in producing this unique car. The Virginian Railway was officially in business in 1907, transporting bituminous coal mined in the most rugged sections of southern West Virginia. The Norfolk Southern Railway's history can be traced to hauling coal back as far as 1883.
