This reefer was first built by Fruit Growers Express in Virginia and commemorates the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. The first Coast Guard Academy was based at sea back in 1878. In 1890 the first land based Academy was established at Curtis Bay, Maryland. The present Academy was founded in 1932 and is located in London, Connecticut. Micro-Trains offered this N Scale Collector Society Membership Car as an exclusive release only to N Scale Collector Society Members in good standing.
