This set of 40' Standard Box Cars with Single Doors are painted brown with black doors and white lettering.  This New York, New Haven & Hartford vintage set contains 40' Standard Box Cars that were built in April of 1948 by the Pullman Standard Car Mfg. Co. in Chicago, Illinois.  The PS-1 prototypes of these cars were among those produced during the largest annual production of any car builder in history.  The NY, NH&H was created August 6th, 1872 by the consolidation of New York & New Haven and the Hartford & New Haven Railroad Companies; and the cars ran through Connecticut, Rhode Island and southeasern Massachusetts.  Later it was purchased by Penn Central at the end of 1968.
