This 40' Standard Box Car with Double Doors is painted brown with white lettering.  This 1929 box car was rebuilt in 1948 and has a weight capacity of 80,000 lbs. and a 3,895 cu.ft. capacity.  Gradually the cars in this series were rebuilt with increased weight capacity.  The Grand Trunk Western Railroad Company is an important American subsidiary of the Canadian National Railway operating in Michigan, Illlinois, Indiana and Ohio.  These box cars were primarily used in the transportation of parts and sub-assemblies for the automotive industry.
