The Chicago, Burlington & Quincy (CB&Q) was formed by a merger of a number of smaller railroads on February 14, 1855 and was a Class 1 railroad that operated in the Mid Western United States. It was commonly known as the Burlingtron. The Burlington Route served a very large area including the States of Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, Montana, Nebraske, Wisconsin, Wyoming, New Mexico and Texas. Due to their extensive trackage the railroad used the slogans "Every Where West", "Way of the Zephyrs" and the "Way West". It merged with the Burlington Northern Railroad in the year 1970. | | | | | |
