Micro-Trains proudly presents this Commemorative Loco and Caboose Set that honors the heroic sacrifices of the Allied Forces on June 6, 1944 during the invasion of Normandy, France.  A total of 150,000 troops from Great Britain, Canada and the United States, nearly 12,000 Aircraft and 7000 Naval Vessels participated in what would become not only the most pivotal operation of World War II, but also the largest amphibious invasion in history.  In the early morning light, Allied forces came ashore along a 50 mile stretch of beach which turned the tide of the war in Europe. By the end of the first day the beaches were secured and the forces began the work of taking back the German occupied French territory.  So successful was the assault that within 10 days over a million men were landed on those beaches, allowing the final push to Berlin.
