This 40' Standard Box Car with Double Doors is painted brown with yellow lettering.  The Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad (DL&W) was a United States Class 1 railroad that connected Buffalo, NY and Hoboken, NJ.  A distance of approximately 400 miles.  Incorporated in 1853, the DL&W was profitable during the first two decades of the 20th Century but was gradually hurt by declining traffic in coal, truck competition, and high New Jersey taxes.  In 1960, the DL&W merged with the Erie Railroad to form the new Erie Lackawanna Railroad.  This cars lading was primarily automotive parts.
