This car was part of a 500 car fleet that was built in August of 1947 by Pullman Standard. It was then serviced and reweighed at the Kansas City Shops in March of 1953. Nicknamed "The Corn Belt Route", it began in 1892 as the old Chicago, St. Paul & Kansas City, and changed in late 1892 to the Chicago Great Western. The road did reasonably well right into the 1960's until the merger with CNW on July 1st of 1968. The CNW was then purchased by Union Pacific on April 24, 1995 and at this point the CGW and CNW ceased to exist. | | | | | |
