This 50' Flat Car with Fishbelly Sides and Side Mounted Brake Wheel is painted brown with white lettering.  The Louisville & Nashville Railroad was a Class I Railroad, chartered by the State of Kentucky in 1850, it operated as a successful freight and passenger carrier in the Southeast United States.  It survived the Civil War and economic depressions.  The railroad was economically strong all the way throughout its lifetime, operating both freight and great passenger service in a manner that earned it the nickname "The Old Reliable".  In 1971, the Seaboard Coast Line purchased the L&N and merged all equipment into the Seaboard System.  In 1986, a final merger took place that moved everything into the CSX Transportation System.
